The Mermantle Men unite mermen from all walks of life through song, celebrating camaraderie, oceanic culture, and the transformative power of singing in a group.
Mermantle Men Beginnings
In 2020, after her freediving business was shut down by COVID-19 restrictions, Tania Douthwaite launched the Mermantle Men as part of a community wellbeing initiative.
Tania wanted to create a space for men to connect, express themselves and support their mental health. She identified the sea and Fremantle’s maritime culture as a meaningful point of connection
The Mermantle Men choir emphasises that group singing offers more than fun: it promotes conscious breathing, improves lung function, supports emotional self-regulation and builds social connection.

Every Monday | 7-9 pm
Join us for rehearsals at the Blueback Free Diving & Yoga Studio where mermen of all singing levels can experience the joy of song and camaraderie.
